Reliance Comm revives tower unit IPO plans

According to latest business news Reliance Communications, India's No. 2 mobile operator, has revived IPO plans for its tower unit more than a year after it shelved a similar proposal amid a slump in equity markets worldwide.

Reliance Communications, which has 85 million subscribers and wants to reach 100 million by the end of the year, would also make a placement of shares to institutions at the appropriate time to cut debt, chairman Anil Ambani said at the annual meeting of shareholders. Read More...

Men's doubles title lifted by Paes and Dlouhy

The today's sports news was, Indo-Czech pair Leander Paes and Lukas Dlouhy won their second grand slam title of the year after lifting the men's doubles crown at the U.S. Open on Sunday.
Paes and Dlouhy were trailing by a set and break before they launched their fightback to beat third seeds Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles 3-6 6-3 6-2.

The win made amends for their final defeat 12 months ago.

India hockey championship postponed

According to Latest Sports News India's hockey federation has postponed next month's national championships due to H1N1 flu, it said in a statement on Wednesday.

More than 25 people have died and 2,000 have been infected in India by the virus that has forced the Bollywood film industry to put off big releases and cancel shoots.

The tournament was due to be held from Sept. 13-27 in Pune, one of the worst hit by the virus.
